Snowboarding
Full disclosure, I have never snowboarded/skied/wakeboarded/skateboarded/anything remotely close to this ever. But with a free snowboard and desire to not sit around doing nothing all winter, I was determined to make the most of my easy access to Colorado mountains. With my IKON pass in tow, I set out to Shred The Gnar. Knowing I could seriously injure myself and ruin the whole season, I went up to Snowy Range in Laramie, WY for some super cheap lessons. After day 1 I conquered floating like a leaf down the bunny slope, as well as bruising my tailbone and kneecaps. Day 2 of lessons, I seriously considered purchasing padded bike shorts and knee pads. I started getting a little used to snowboarding and began learning how to make turns. I was officially ready for my first ski trip. I decided to head to Steamboat for a week and work on my newfound skills. Upon arrival, I decided I needed one more lesson to boost my confidence. The new instructor taught me different methods that helped me to better visualize what I needed to tell my body to do until it became muscle memory. Iβm so glad I spent several hours being professionally trained. While I am still too chicken to go faster than 30 mph, I ride blues and some blacks even, and I no longer bruise my body up from wiping out. 2020-2021 winter I spent almost 30 days at the slopes! I hope to get more days in 2021-2022 winter. I started this year with a refresher lesson to get my S curves down and go faster!. This year, weβre licking the stamp and sending it!
