One thing I seriously could not have left Poland without doing was visiting Auschwitz. To see the remains of the horrors so many people went thru is sobering. It’s not some museum, it’s not some remake, it is actual remains, actual suitcases, shoes, clothing- stripped from people, actual hair shaven from their heads, burned down remnants (some surviving tho) of the dirt floor “houses” people were crammed in as they awaited their death. This didn’t happen hundreds of years ago, this happened in the 1940’s.
