Greece

Greece is comprised of thousands of islands/islets. Some counts reach up to 6000! You could virtually visit a different island every vacation for the rest of your life! I just stuck to a few main locations. We visited Greece in September, which i definitely recommend. The crowds were minimal, the fares were reasonable, and the weather was perfect! It was hot, but not an unbearable heat where you start sweating the second you walk outside. I wanted to learn a bit of Greek before the trip, but did not commit much. If you master these two key words, you’ll do fine: “hello” and “thank you” pronounced Yah-Sus & Uh-Far-E-Stoh, respectively. Several locals actually asked me where I was from, or complimented my pronunciations. A few tried to speak Greek to me and I was like woah there partner, that’s all I know. I learned a few curse words as well, but we’ll save that for another time ;) The food was amazing! Breakfast would generally be filled pastries and coffee, while dinners and lunch would be various seafood, lamb, and starchy meals. Most of the time we would order several plates or appetizers to share, which I definitely recommend, but we also ordered single plates and took a bite of each other’s meals. As an added bonus, after your meals (everywhere minus Mykonos) you get FREE dessert and shots of ouzo (licorice schnapps type alcohol local to Greece) or raki (grape brandy similar to vodka native to Crete). Overall, we had a blast! My friends and I all decided we need vacation homes on some of the Greek islands. We jam packed the itinerary and actually did i would say 80-85% of the things on it. This 2 week trip honestly felt like 2 months! We saw so much everywhere we went; each location deserves its own page.
